Throw a name change into the mix and a company suddenly has a complex task on its hands—how will it distinguish itself now? This is what Worcester-based Siemens VAI faced when it became part of Primetals Technologies in January 2015.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s Office of Diversity Programs wanted a new magazine to accomplish two key goals:
To provide a snapshot of WPI’s diversity in its research, teaching and service to the community
To serve as a marketing communications tool for recruiting minority high school students
The wrinkle in this project — turnaround time: six weeks!

The UMass Worcester Prevention Research Center at UMass Medical School in Worcester works closely with numerous community and public health partners to promote healthy weight and address obesity and its associated conditions. UMass Worcester PRC’s collaborative research yields practical health promotion and disease prevention to bring long-term benefits to the community. Finding a successful way to effectively communicate that research and program information—key to retaining grant funding—presented a daunting challenge for the center.
